Untangling the Mystery of the Dharma from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III

Since the public emergence of the teachings of His Holiness Dorje Chang Buddha III several decades ago, interest in the authentic Dharma has steadily grown across the globe. In the early stages, access to these teachings was limited and scattered. Individuals seeking the Dharma from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III often found that authentic materials were not readily available online. However, over time, it became evident that the prerecorded oral teachings of the Buddha could be accessed in temples that uphold the correct Dharma and at certified Dharma-Listening Centers, under the guidance of certified Masters of Dharma-Listening Sessions.

The Dharma from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is no longer a mystery.  Trustworthy resources such as the official website of the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III provide access to several complete and unedited Dharma teachings, both in Chinese and English, ensuring broader and more reliable access for seekers of the true Dharma.

In recent years, the Office of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has made significant efforts to transcribe these oral teachings into printed form. In 2023 and 2024, several volumes of sutras expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III were published in hard copy. Continuing this effort, an additional set of printed sutras in Chinese will be officially presented on May 30 and 31, 2025, during the Dharma Assembly Respectfully Honoring the Holy Birthday of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in Glendale, California.

  • Volume XI: Holy Views

These sacred texts will be available for respectful purchase at the venue of the Dharma Assembly.

The Dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is no longer shrouded in mystery—it is reaching the hearts and minds of people across the world. Disciples from all walks of life are warmly invited to attend this momentous occasion, to respectfully request these sutras, and to bring their study and practice into the comfort of their homes.

This gathering is not only a celebration but also a powerful spiritual event where Buddhist disciples unite in prayer for themselves, their families, their communities, and the world. In Search of a Great Master to Learn from – H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III

California is home to numerous Buddhist temples, each offering a distinct school of teaching to inspire and guide practitioners. Among them, Hua Zang Si, a unique Buddhist temple in San Francisco, particularly captured my attention as I live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Hua Zang Si is dedicated to the authentic teachings of Sakyamuni Buddha and H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and provides pre-recorded oral teaching expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III for visitors to listen to. However, other than Sakyamuni Buddha—historically known as Prince Siddhartha—who is this Buddha, H. H. Dorje Chang Buddha III?

Dorje Chang Buddha is, in fact, a primordial Buddha and the embodiment of the absolute truth of the universe, which itself has no form. As stated on page 17 of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III: A Treasury of True Buddha-Dharma:

“In the entire universe, Dorje Chang Buddha is the first Buddha with form and is the highest Buddha. That is, the highest leader of Buddhism in the entire universe came into being in the form of Dorje Chang Buddha. It was Dorje Chang Buddha who began transmitting dharma and saving living beings in the dharmadhatu. As a result, Buddhism was born and the Buddha-dharma began spreading.”

This extensive text of book provides a detailed account of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, documenting the profound realization and supreme achievements of the true Buddha-dharma as demonstrated by the highest Buddha in the world.

Numerous awe-inspiring accounts of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, a revered Buddhist master—indeed, the highest Buddhist master—can be found in various publications and online sources. A documented example is the Buddha’s ability to predict the arrival of a flock of birds and accurately describe their actions upon arrival—an extraordinary and precise demonstration of insight.

This remarkable event, known as The Holy Feat, occurred in Mexico in 2014 and was witnessed firsthand by numerous Buddhist disciples, all of whom provided sworn testimonies under their own names, attesting to the authenticity of what they observed.

Attending a single temple, such as Hua Zang Si in San Francisco, which propagates complete Buddhism of all Buddhas will enable you to learn diverse practices, such as Zen meditation, the chanting of Buddhas’ and Bodhisattvas’ names, and Tibetan Dharma practices—these latter being transmitted only in accordance with an individual’s specific karmic affinity with the yidam and their karmic conditions at the time. Additionally, sutra chanting – a focus on Mahayana Buddhism and other Buddhist practices are available, ensuring a holistic approach to your spiritual cultivation.

How can I learn Buddhism directly from the Buddha? The monastics at Hua Zang Si recommend attending the temple or visiting Dharma-Listening Session centers worldwide to respectfully listen to the prerecorded Dharma teachings.

The temple offers additional religious services, including chanting and blessing services, group study meetings, support groups, Fish Release (field trips to release and save lives), and Buddhist storytime. The temple also hosts larger Dharma assemblies as part of its annual schedule. The Buddhist practice can be a lot of fun!

As a Buddhist disciple following the teachings of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, I have found solace in the voice and wisdom of the Buddha. Through these teachings, I have learned to seek answers, clarity, wisdom, and strength to navigate both the joys and challenges of life.

I hope you, too, will find confidence in searching for a true, holy, and virtuous Buddhist master—one whom you can rely on not only in this lifetime but all the way until you attain enlightenment and become a Buddha yourself. This attainment is guaranteed by all Buddhas as long as we diligently cultivate ourselves with sincerity and perseverance.

The Significance of Qingming Festival in Buddhist Practice

The Qingming Festival, observed this year on April 4, 2025, is a traditional Asian holiday during which individuals visit cemeteries or columbariums to honor and pay respects to their ancestors. This is a special time for families to express their deep gratitude and reverence for their forebears.

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has pointed out that gratitude is a fundamental principle in Buddhism. One of the most meaningful ways to cultivate gratitude and compassion as shown by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is by beginning with those closest to us—our parents and other family members. By guiding them toward the practice of Buddhism, we help them attain liberation, the highest state of happiness one can wish for their loved ones.

A profound example of filial devotion and sincere wishes for one’s parents in their future lives can be found in the many stories of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, who devoted Himself to rescuing His mother from the suffering of the hell realm. These accounts serve as reminders of compassion and devotion, inspiring practitioners to cultivate virtue and pursue the path of liberation for the benefit of their loved ones.

Find a temple and pray for your ancestors and families and all. To honor this tradition, there will be a Qingming Beseeching Blessings Dharma Assembly at Hua Zang Si this Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Though our loved ones may have departed, our hearts remain connected to them. Let us come together in remembrance, gratitude, and devotion.

What is the Best Way to Celebrate a Birthday?

What is the best way to celebrate a birthday? Often we want to give our family members or loved ones a special surprise on this day.  What can we do to make this special day even more special?  When we google it, we will find all kinds of answers and ideas.  One answer I found: The best way to celebrate your birthday is to do something new each year. And this suggestion I am about to share with all of you is something many people have never done – hosting a fish release in celebration of your own birthday.

What is so special about releasing fish or any captive animals to celebrate a birthday? All living beings are equal.  When we set them free, it is as if they are reborn again.  They are given another chance to live as a result of our kind deed.  Celebrating a birthday is as celebrating many birthdays for all the lives we have just saved. We accumulate countless merits from saving lives. It is said that the merits from saving lives will prolong our life and improve our health.  There are numerous miracle stories in which people get ill and later on their health is dramatically improved after releasing many captive animals.

Other than celebrating our own birthday, we can also release captive animals in honor of someone we highly respect.  Every year in August, we release captive marine animals in celebration of the holy birthdays of Fomu佛母 and Jinba Dharma King金巴法王. This year we released lives on August 8 at San Rafael, CA. Ruo Hui Dharma Master, the Abbess of Hua Zang Si in San Francisco, together with the monastics conducted the fish release.  It was nice to see everyone there again with the same mind of saving living beings in pain and fear, and setting them all free back to the ocean. When I held the bucket of water with a couple of big crabs in it, I chanted the Six-Character Great Bright Mantra of Guan Yin Bodhisattvas.  Wishing them all the best, I then poured the water and crabs back to the ocean.  It was a quick hello and goodbye.  I wish them a safe and sound journey back home.

May all living beings be treated equally because we all have the Buddha nature in us.  All of us have the same chance to live happily, practice, and eventually become an enlightened one.

May the merits from today bring comfort and hope to those in pain impacted by the pandemic and all the natural disasters.

May the fearlessness of Guan Yin Bodhisattva bring us the courage, and never ever will we give up on our practice to become a better person and make the world a better place.

May all living beings have the karmic condition to embrace the teachings of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and His grace.
